Low Carb Thanksgiving Desserts

I went to Sam’s Club last night and bought some pies for our little family get-together on Thanksgiving.  I looked longingly at the perfectly baked crust and took a deep breath of the perfect pumpkin and spice aroma coming through the plastic lid.  “How am I gonna refrain myself from eating this deliciousness?” I asked myself out-loud, as a passerby smiled at me…awkwardly…like I was a crazy person.

Low-carb diets suck on holidays…at least until I discovered LOW CARB DESSERTS.  I mean, I’ve heard of the low-carb Atkins bars, which gave me stomach pain and horrendous gas.  But…homemade low carb FESTIVE desserts like pumpkin bars and apple crisp? Get outta here.

I’m going to share five of the tastiest looking desserts that I found this evening while my toddler emptied out all of the bottom kitchen cabinets.  Enjoy! 🙂

#1 Pumpkin Bars with Cream Cheese Frosting

These delightful looking bars are brought to you by Maya over at Wholesome Yum.  Maya says:

This easy pumpkin bars recipe with canned pumpkin & cream cheese frosting is gluten-free & low carb, with healthy, natural ingredients. Just 10 min prep!”

Did she say ten minutes?  I think I can find ten minutes tomorrow…the day before Thanksgiving…AKA…the calm before the storm.

#2 “Apple” Crisp

Guys, Lisa at LowCarbYum.com is a total genius.  She saw a zucchini on her counter and then turned it into apple crisp.  I’m not even joking!  She also recommends adding a bit of ice cream:

“I have to tell you that this warm low sugar apple crisp really hit the spot. There was a container of CarbSmart ice cream in my freezer, so I added a little scoop of that as well.”

This is definitely on my list to bake this week!  According to the reviews, even kids don’t know the difference.

#3 Chocolate Cake

If you’re craving chocolate this holiday season, check out this delicious looking cake, also created by Lisa at LowCarbYum.com.  The secret ingredient is zucchini, which makes it super moist.  This recipe is also gluten free, and the frosting is sugar free and low-carb friendly as well.  Win-win!

#4 Blueberry Cobbler

Mellissa at I Breathe, I’m Hungry created this amazing low carb blueberry cobbler.  Mellissa says:

This low carb blueberry cobbler recipe makes the most of summer flavors, while still fitting into your keto diet!    You can customize this keto cobbler with a variety of lower sugar fruits and berries like strawberries, rhubarb, and even chopped apples!

Although it’s a summer dessert, you can put a fall twist to this dish by adding rich flavors such as cinnamon and nutmeg!

#5 Cinnamon Rolls

Katrin at Sugar Free Londoner knows how to make a girl drool.  Check out this amazing recipe for her cinnamon rolls, which happen to be Keto friendly, gluten free, grain free, and sugar free!  In fact, one of these babies only contains 1.3 net carbs!

You could add so many great toppings to these, such as sugar free cream cheese frosting, fresh berries, or just eat them plain!

Sooo… which one are you dying to try out this week?  I think for Thanksgiving I’m going to give the apple crisp and cinnamon rolls a try.  But I’m definitely going to make them all before the year is over! 🙂

Be sure to share this with a low-carb friend who also loves desserts!
